can't ping Apache by ServerName
hello, everyone, i am a Linux newbie, just one month in, and love it so
far.....I installed redhat 9 with the server option, and installed all the servers in the package just for learning purposes...so far i setup up the HTTP, the vsftp, and the named..... I can't ping Apache by the ServerName from the httpd.conf, which i set up to be www.my-domain.com, i have a registered domain, that was hosted with a web hosting company for $5/month......and i now want to host it, and create a nameserver for it....my Apache is up and running, becaues i can open internet explorer in my friend's windows machine, and type in http://24.117.xxx.xx, and get my web page......i have configured BIND on redhat 9, with (ns.my-domain.com) as the nameserver....but i can't ping that either, and therefore, i can't change the primary nameserver option for my domain......i think that BIND is setup correctly, because on redhat 9 box, if i open mozilla, and type in (http://my-domain.com), it works....but like i said, i can't ping my nameserver, or Apache ServerName!!!! thanks alot guys sam |
