Can't open root directory

I need to open the root directory, but somehow I can't. Does anyone know why, or what to do to open it?

On KDE, when I go to quick brownser, and then root, it says failure to read directory. When I open Home and on the location address box I put / it says I have no permission to access such thing...

Please Help is needed...

If you login with another user, then the Root directory is not open to you.. You have to login to Root and then you have access to the directory..

only guessing here,
if you are referring to fedoraguide.org's instructions, you should login as "root"

my fault. am going to change the guide to a normal "user" point of view

ignore me, if my guess is wrong! cause i've encountered users feedback regarding this issue

Say What! You should be able to view the files but not to write to them!

You really shouldn't ever login as root. If you need to access a file or directory then just use your shell and su to root. Really be careful though because you can do some serious damage fast when operating as the root user.
