Can't make Mp3's Work

downloaded Amarok and Juk.. and i'm kinda new to linux.

I think i'm missing some magical components that will let mp3's play. it's very quiet right now and it's kind of unnerving.. my stereo's gone and i really don't have much music in formats that my computer will play.

So if anyone could help me out, i'd apreciate it..

I ran a search and i guess my question was so basic no one else had trouble with it :/

i just found it like 3 minutes ago.. been looking for 2 hours though.

They're called "rpm's" i'm using Xubuntu and the normal Ubuntu things wouldn't work i guess..

It was something called Xubunutu-Restricted-Packages

That is what you needed.

Just to clarify: <filename>.rpm files are packages for RedHat (and it's derivatives-Fedora, Mandriva, CentOS,etc.). *buntu variants are Debian derivatives (based on Debian), and the packages you want for them usually are of the form <filename>.deb.

The more I see these types of posts, the more I think "first-timers" should go with Mint.
Here's some site's to look at.

http://howtoforge.com/

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/
