can't make

I downloaded gaim - gaim-0.64.tar.gz and i unpacked it to my hd.
With this tutorial standby ht tp : // w w w.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45094, i am now trying to install it.

At a certain point it says i have to run "make" after ./config. When i type make in the shell and press enter it says: No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I'm stuck, any help welcome.

did you run ./configure first?

yeh, thats all i can think of.

also make sure that your in the right directory! it sounds obvious, but iv made that mistake before ><

(not often of course :P)

i unpacked it to root/gaim/
i did ./config on it 2 :S
