can't log in at gnome desktop
Hi, am a complete newbie only had pc with linux installed for a week, for some stupid reason we had 8.10 pre-installed and decided to upgrade to 9.04 now we can't get past the gnome login screen asking for user name and password. Linux was already installed by mesh with a userename and password which we didn't change,we are really stumped as we can't get past this logon screen.

What does it say after you type in the login credentials? any errors?
It just says incorrect login details, When I'm typing in the username it looks like its in a foreign language like arabic, and types right to left, although all of the dropdown menues are in english (Session, theme, language etc) Havnt changed anything ourselves just downloaded it.

Your account might be locked or something ,just assuming :-??.Are you not able to login from CLI mode? press ctrl+alt+F2 and try.
Tried that, same problem as on the login screen all the text in the terminal is in english but when i type it types in foreign language.
Might be an issue with you keyboard layout?? what layout did you select while installation US layout??
don't think its the keyboard have tried a different wired keyboard but it makes no difference
