Can't install Ubuntu...

I am new to Linux. I downloaded Ubuntu and burned it with Nero 7. I changed the BIOS to boot from CD. Whenever I try to install it says
Boot from ATAPI cdrom: _
. That's all it ever says. I never reach the install or any thing. The system is a Win. 98se with a second hard drive. I'm trying to install Linux on the second one. Any help?

First make sure you burned it correctly. This tutorial is for Roxio, but it should be pretty similar to Nero.

Secondly, if you burned it correctly and still have problems, try the alternate istallation disk found here. It's not a live cd and doesn't have a fancy graphical installer, but works on a wider variety of hardware.

I think I'd prefer a live CD. I want to try it out before i make up my mind. I'm a newbie so I don't know which is the best.

I use nero to burn cds, not sure what version, but mine is at least 3 years old. Make sure you burn it as an image file, not a data file. If you use the wizard, it does have that option.
Let us know how it went or how you fixed the problem.
