Question Can't get to the subitems, listed under "Places" in main menu, waiting for help!

It appears a short flash of "OpenOffice.org 3.2" and nothing more

Hya,

If you can describe whatever you ran into and its solution, somebody else may find the way to solve problem. (instead of short post)

It is still the same problem. When it started is hard to say, I installed Ubunti 10.10 from USB stick (round okt,nov.2010)and did not use "the Places" menu in the beginning. With more data doc. I tried but could'nt come in. Yet I could found my doc. by going into "Office" through Applications. Obviously something is not as it should be.
