can't get glftpd to start?

hey people.
i grabbed glftp RC2 from glftpd.com and installed it using the install script.
that went fine, no erroes occured. Now i can't start my glftpd. i have tried making a script as shown in /docs/README.xinetd and i have tried to start it manually using the arguments in /docs/README.xinetd and nothing happens.

debian:/glftpd/glftpd/bin# ./glftpd -l -o -i
debian:/glftpd/glftpd/bin#

debian:/glftpd/glftpd/bin# ps aux |grep glftp
root 4190 0.0 0.3 1572 456 pts/96 R+ 14:40 0:00 grep glftp

So i can see its not started.. can anyone tell me how to start it?

If you use xinetd to start glftpd, then it will not show with ps.
Try netstat -ta to see if port 21 is listening, or try to ftp to your box.
Regards

am using init.d but i assume the same applies there.
I can't conenct to it though, however it does show up in netstat -ta

tcp 0 0 *:glftpd *:* LISTEN

(should listen on port 23222, and not port 21)

If it shows like this with netstat, then
Code:
cat /etc/services|grep glftpd
to see what port is glftpd listening. If it listens to wrong port (e.g. 21) I guess you can change it's config file and restart inetd.
