I installed kubuntu and used it there. You can get kubuntu from the software center or the synaptic package manager. Compiz works in the kde environment, not in unity very well without headaches. I like the kde environment, there's a lot of available eye candy and the screen saver works there again as well. The unity desktop is set up to be very simple I think and for that reason cool stuff like wobbly windows, and cube desktop don't work well. Give kubuntu a try and see if you don't like it a little more.
