Can't find X Includes

I am trying to install software on Linux (An APM utility) and I have install software before but now when i go to configure it gives me this error:

--------------
loading cache ./config.cache
checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... g++ -E
checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
-------------------

also I tried doing it with another program simply using the make command and got like 10 errors per every line of code, errors that looked like they may not be able to find the function. How do I tell it where do find these libraries? I am installing from /usr/src. Is this wrong?

Which distro is this on? If it's RedHat, you'll need to install the xfree-dev RPM's to get the necessary files to compile against the X server.

Cool

In mandrake X includes are part of the libraires that are needed to compile some apps. they are on the mandrake install disks, but I can't speak for other distros. You can search your install disks to find them.
