Can't find wifi connection app or button

In my Mint14 os, I have a button ib the system tray that indicates if I am connected to the internet. If I am not, and I click on it, it will do I refresh and connect me, or it will allow me to chose a different connection.(I have 2 routers; a netgear and a Verizon). In Mint 17 I don't have that button (or the app), so sometimes when I suspend my laptopm the connection gets broken, and I have no way of reconnecting without restarting. Thanx for any information!

Hi, 2cen. Can you give a few more details, such as what desktop environment or window manager you're using? For example, Cinnamon, KDE, MATE, or Xfce.

For one thing, on the Linux Mint website Mint 17 is listed as the current version and the only earlier version listed with "long term support" (LTS) is Mint 13. This might mean that Mint 14 is deprecated and should be replaced with 13 LTS or 17.

I'm not familiar with the Mint desktop but you should look for an icon to click on that looks like this one. It will be along the top or the bottom of your screen.

Thanx, JD1 Yeah, that's what's missing. I'd love to find an icon like that. Interestingly my wired desktop has an icon indicating I'm connected. The laptop does not.
