Can't find local IP Address in ifconfig on Kali Linux, am I doing something wrong?
I've just installed Kali Linux, and I need to find the local IP, so I searched up how to, so I input ifconfig. I'm trying to look for the line (inet addr:xxx.xxx.xxx) but can't find it anywhere, there is inet and inet6, but nothing that looks like an ip.
and also has a line saying UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING MULTICAST Please help, I'm pretty clueless but trying to get better, as far as I've seen this hasn't be solved anywhere else cause it hasn't been a problem cause it's just there. |
Hi:
When you type in ifconfig your ip address should be on one of the lines in the output of wlan0. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcdoLYW6LH4 If you still can't find it: Go to a fresh Google page and type in "how to find out ip address" Google will show you your ip address above the first hit. |

I've done that, it just comes up with this, Imgur link to reference. http://imgur.com/a/F6S6Z |
I think somewhere in Kali docs it says Kali comes network disabled. Since Kali is for experienced Linux users they should have no problem setting up the network.

When you get a chance read the Kali Linux documentation it will enlighten you.
When I read the Kali Linux documentation I remembered that the network is disabled as Emerson has mentioned. http://docs.kali.org/ http://www.solutionsatexperts.com/ip...in-kali-linux/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4ueXndm90o https://www.safaribooksonline.com/li...2/ch01s08.html http://tools.kali.org/tools-listing |
