Question Can't edit state file.

When trying to edit the file /proc/acpi/fan/FAN1/state I get the following message when saving:

"/proc/acpi/fan/FAN1/state" E509: Cannot create backup file (add ! to override)
Hit ENTER or type command to continue

I'm try to change file from:
status off

to

status on

As my laptop keeps overheating and shutting down.

Any answers?

Help

Try as root?

What make and model is it, btw?

If it's an evo there should be a BIOS fix for the
fscked-up ACPI support available...

Cheers,
Tink

I have tried as root. Same problem. It is a Toshiba A65-S126 (Satellite). I have tried to remove the file also...with no luck.
