Unhappy Can't connect to net --> DSL through router

Can someone please help me. I am new to Linux and I am not sure what to do. I just set up Mandrake 9 and I want to connect to the internet. I am using a netgear nic, a linksys dsl router connected to a 5 port switch, and a speedstream dsl modem. My router takes care of the PPOE so all I should have to do is set it as my default gateway. How?????

My router ip is
I would like my machine to be 192.168.101 if possible or just DHCP from the router (either is fine with me)
