Can't connect to Internet
I am setting up a Game server for SOF2 on a linux box. I have installed Redhat 9 and can see the other 2 computers on my network, but i cannot connect to the internet. I am using a Linksys switch and my connection is DSL. I am connecting to a WINXP PRO box and a WIN ME box(I know ME SUCKS, upgrade in progress).
I have a friend who has done the EXACT same thing and he has no problem connecting to the internet. As both of us are newbies to Linux we cannot figure out the problem. Any help is greatly apprciated.

Are you behind a firewall?
Whats happening when you try to load a browser page?
can you ping google by name ( www.google.com) or by ip number (216.239.41.99)?
Lots of questions, but could lead to the answers.

what does ifconfig return (type into a console as root)
Does your linksys switch have a web config or similar?
What does it say about your Linux machine, is it listing it amongst the client list. (I use D-Link so it may be diffrent.)

Is that the right IP for this machine? (Usually Machine behine routers/Switchs use 192.168.0.X).
It might not be picking up a IP from the switch, so the switch is ignoring its requests for external IP's?
DHCP problems?

So you've got multiple ip addresses from your IP one each for all your machines?

Well, turns out it was my ISP's fault. I recently upgraded to a 1.5 mbps connection and when they did my upgrade they conviently forgot to switch it to an always on connection(no login/logout)
Thanks for your help guys; at least I learned some stuff about Linux.LOL
