So long as your router has a user+password and you don't forget it, this will be the same for all connected PC's, irrespective of OS.

Hey Exekiel Project
I did as you suggested and here is cut/paste
-Latitude-E6420 ~ $ ping -c 2 www.google.com
PING www.google.com (63.117.68.23) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 63.117.68.23: icmp_seq=1 ttl=59 time=43.3 ms
64 bytes from 63.117.68.23: icmp_seq=2 ttl=59 time=43.7 ms

--- www.google.com ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 received, 0% packet loss, time 1000ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 43.334/43.538/43.742/0.204 ms
-Latitude-E6420 ~ $

I have worked to secure my modem so I think I am all set. At my leisure I will test wireless connection its something I do rarely with only one of my computers.
Thanks

Awesome indeed!

Okay one final question mainly to Jeremy. When I look up the username and password on my modem quick set up it does not jive what the one I wrote down. It shows a number sequence 2 digits shorter then the one I thought I wrote down. I would think I would need to contact my isp carrier to change it or check it?

Okay I reset password anyway to something I have a hard copy written down but when the settlings are applied it reverts to the shorter numerical one.8 digits instead of what I use which is longer. Does that sound normal?

That could very well be a limitation of your modem/router. I have seen many devices that truncate passwords to a designated length. Though I have not run into that on recent hardware. As you have just recently purchased it, have you checked for a firmware update?

When you say reverts, do you mean completely changes it? OR is it truncating it?

An 8 character alphanumeric password should be strong enough for a home router.
