Can't Boot Please Help...

I am new to linux. I bought the red hat linux cd's a few years ago and I am just getting around to installing it now. It is red hat version 5.1.

I got all the way through the install, then at the end it told me that I should create a boot disk, but that would not create sucessfully, so I skipped that part, then it told me that I needed to install the boot files to a partition so that linux could boot, this would not take sucessfully either. I tried it many times and it wouldn't work so I used my windows pc to download the grub and lilo boot files (I don't know anything about this, I just did some searching and read that they are boot files for linux).

Anyways, when i tried them, the system still does not boot.

Can someone please offer me some assistance in getting the system to boot. I would be most grateful. Thanks.

You need to post the specific error messages you are getting for anyone to be able to help you. Also you might consider getting a later version, Deadrat 5.1 is oooold.
