Question Can't boot after MEPIS installation

Hi all,

I'm trying to install MEPIS 2004.04 on a PC based on AMD64 3500+, chipset is nforce3 ultra (on MSI K8N Neo2). MEPIS CD boots fine, everything is OK. The installation process is also OK, with a full formatting of my disk (a SATA one) and automatic partitionning.
But on reboot, the BIOS (which is up to date) displays the message "can't boot, please insert system disk". WinXP was previously installed on this disk and ran fine. I tried to reinstall grub with the MEPIS installation center (selecting "mbr" option instead of "/"

What can I do?

Thank a lot

I gave up with MEPIS and tried SuSE 9.1, which works great now.
So the problem seems to be in the installation

so it's definitely the bios that gives u the msg and not grub complaining that it can't find the kernel?
