Can't add Disk Mounter applet to panel (FC5 + GNOME)

I'm sure this is a total noob question, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why I can't add the Disk Mounter applet to a panel in GNOME. I can successfully add all other applets I've tried, but when I attempt to click Disk Mounter and then click Add or if I drag the icon onto the panel, nothing happens.

I can reproduce this in both a user account and the root account, so it doesn't appear to be a permission issue.

OK, I am gonna take a stab at this one. If you have disk mounter in your list of applets then that should mean it is installed and should be available to you. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to add it to your panel so I am gonna go in the other direction here and suggest that it may be on your panel. I added it to my panel but did not see it until I plugged in my usb pen drive. When I plugged in the pen drive it popped up on my panel so assuming that you do not have anything else mounted and you are wanting to hotplug a removable drive or something then maybe it is there and you wont see it until you plug it in. It's a long shot I know but that is my two cents, I found it interesting that I did not see the applet until a I plugged in the drive.

That was it

When I inserted my pen drive, I saw about 25 different instances of the disk mounter on my panel

That is a bit unexpected. Thanks for the tip.
