Mandrake 9.1 and cable modems

I just installed Linux Mandrake 9.1 and I can not get my cable modem to work with it. Maybe it's cause the drivers weren't installed, I don't know. I've got a Motorola Surfboard and it's connected with Optimum Online and I have it going through a usb cable to connect. I haven't gotten around to Ethernet because it's not seeming to work. My IP address is if that helps you with knowing how to help me. Thanks in advance!
