C library for btree / SAM data bases

I am looking for a simple C library that handles btrees / ISAM data bases on Linux. Can somebody recommend a product?

Thank you, Yves Plasse.

It's not free (or maybe it is from some source I'm not aware of) but IBM Informix C-ISAM is the best of the breed. Take a look at http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/informix/cisam/ and see what you think.

Hope this helps some.

I don't know what method it uses to index it's records, but sqlite offers a database with low overhead as it is not based on a server-client scheme.
