Burning MP3 CDs (not audio CDs)
 

Can one burn MP3 CDs yet in Linux? (This is, burn actual MP3 CDs, not simply burn audio CDs using MP3 files as source.) I'm running K3b 0.11.12. It will successfully burn an audio CD using my MP3s, but I can't find an option or plugin to allow the burning of an MP3 CD.

Yes, using K3b pick create data CD and drag the mp3's on to it and burn, your MP3 player will read the files and viola! thats it!

just curious here: is there a difference between an MP3 cd and a data cd with only mp3s on it? If you know i'd like to know, too.

If the answer is no, then just burn them as a data cd like snatale1 said above.

Thanks, folks! I had no idea it was just a data CD....

So, to go a step further, is it then also true that in Windows with RealAudio, for example, the "Premium" option to be able to burn an MP3 CD is foolish -- that one can accomplish the same by just burning a data CD?

I'm not to sure the ways that works but sounds like a scam for $$$$, Like all windows things. Thats why we run Linux :)

The difference is that when you create an audio disk using k3B it automatically converts the mp3's to wav format (so they can be played on a standard CD player.

If you burn it is a data disk the mp3's do not get converted (and hence will not play on a standard CD player).
