Burning an ISO on a disk from USB using Linux Mint

I was using Brasero and attempted to burn a ubuntu server iso onto a disk to install it on a project server I have to practice with.

I received an error message with "on write(16, 16)" as what I imagine is the location in the code where the error occurred.

Is there anything anyone can tell me about this error or my error in the process?

You may have attempted to write to the media faster than it can accept writes. Were you trying to write to a CD or DVD media specifically?

I was trying to write to a DVD-R 16x. I'm not sure what other identifying information i could provide.

Is there a way to check if I attempted to write faster than the media could handle?

We were always told to burn installation CDs at the lowest speed the drive could handle. I'm sure braseiro has an option for doing that.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try

Move the file from the usb to the hard drive too.

The error seems to suggest that it had a problem trying to burn a chunk to the media. There could be many reasons. As above, slowest speeds help. Since you say something to do with usb then I'd also consider the ability to get that data between the two devices.

Be sure to check the iso md5 or shal before you go any further.

Good quality disc's help too.

I use wodim, but I run it as root.

Hi,

the message snippet "on write(16, 16" probably stems from libburn.
But there should be more text telling which kind of error happened.
Like
Code:

libburn : FATAL : SCSI error on write(0,16): [3 0C 00] Medium error. Write error.
If your drive too indicates "Medium error" then the problem would be in
the relation of drive and medium. The burn program is only the messanger
which forwards the drive's reply.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
