I use K3b, and when i want to make a data cd, to transfer files from a linux box to a windows box, it won't recognize it on windows... what option do i set to allow this, ican't seem to find it..

Hi Minm

I thought I never set an option that windoze could read linux burned cds.... IIRC just take iso/jolliet!

2 questions:
Have you tried to read the cd in your linux box??
Can you windows box read any other (windows-)burned cds??

In my experience, I have never had a problem reading a data cd burned on linux in windows or vice-versa. The cd filesystem is recognized on both.

You might want to check the setting in K3b. It should be burning in the iso9660 filesystem which is readable by all. If it is changed to something like ext3 then windows won't be able to read it.
