building and learning the source
 
I am looking for a tiny distribution with source
to build and fiddle with it to learn the source code .
can someone give me the pointers.

yeah sure :D the real thing you need: Linux From Scratch. The meaning of this distro is that you will build everything for a working Linux from scratch, everything from source code! really good to learn how a Linux pc works, and you can look at all sources for everything :D
