building a cross compiler / toolchain for ARM11 on linux from scratch

Hey Everybody,

for about a week now have been trying to build my own cross compiler / toolchain for ARM11 on my laptop.
Unfortunatly unsuccesfull. Have tried several ways, from several sources (websites) Had to reinstall my laptop of all the mess that was created.
So, am in need of some assistance.
the following is the list of programs needed for this project.
Busybox, Cairo, Expat, Freetype, libjpeg, libiconv, libpng, linux-kernel, m-tools, newlib, u-boot, zlib.

Anyone guidance here is more then welcome.
kind regards,
ProfWho

would be nice to be more explicit: what have you done, what kind of error messages you got ...
Probably you need to start over again.
The first step: what distro you have, what have you downloaded (packages, versions)? You must not use root to build cross compiler.
I hope you have found this page already: http://gcc.gnu.org/install/prerequisites.html

Two things.

elinux.org has arm compilers and probably some guidance. And this site
http://chitlesh.fedorapeople.org/FEL/list.html

Has a list of software on the fedora electronic spin which does have arm (cross)compilers installed.

Hey,

am currently trying out the info from this website.
http://linuxthesaurus.wordpress.com/...s-compilation/
have tried some others, but like said before, ended up reinstalling my laptop with kali linux.
offcourse have found and read http://gcc.gnu.org/install/prerequisites.html
my knowledge may be limited, but please consider me far from stupid.
have downloaded the latest version of all the prerequisits.
the last/newest error that gcc gave me while compiling was arm-unknown-linux not supported.
so need to reread and re-research everything again.
have tried decyphering the config.sub and configure files.
hard thing ...
very different then decyphering javascript...

As for our friend business kid,
is refering to a website, althou interesting website, in any way a own build cross compiler/toolchain?
but thanks anyway, didn't know the website existed...
