browser options?

What are currently the best options for a browser? A search through this forum seems to indicate that Netscape is not popular (is Mozilla Netscapes next browser after 6.x?). Opera seems like a possibility, although the adds are a detractor (I can buy it for home, but I need to install it on many school workstations.). Any other viable options?

Konqueror looks interesting. I can't find it on my Redhat 6.x installation - I'm guessing that it is part of KDE 2.x (?). Can I download just Konqueror (without KDE2.x)?

not sure about just installing konqueror.. sure it could be done..
mozilla is like netscape but more stable.. its my second choice behind konqueror... well, at the time being.

Konquerer is good stuff.

it was voted best web browser for 2001 by a website i cannot remember(read it a few months ago i think). well i used it on rh7.2 and loved it.

i don't think it's available on the rh6.x default install... it is part of the KDE2.x. i'm not sure about if u can just download konqueror without kde2. i'm guessing not... (because of dependencies) but i am well known to be wrong

hope someone can come along and help...

in any case, if u r stuck with rh6.x , and are more familiar with netscape (especially if your users are more familiar with netscape or IE), then maybe you should stick with netscape initially. then later when u do all the upgrades or something, introduce konqueror and perhaps train your users in using it.

galeon is easily the best. all teh good bits of mozilla, with none of the pointless junk, all wrapped up in a nice Gnome ui
