Broken GRUB on primary HDD?

I'm a complete linux noob, so be gentle!

Here's my problem:

The setup I have is that there's Hard drive A and B. HDA is a 250GB with Windows on.
HDB is a 120GB with SuSE on. When HDB is set as the primary device, it boots up GRUB then linux fine. But when I ask GRUB to boot Windows, I get error 17(?).

So I think what the hell, and set HDA as the primary boot device. But HDA won't even load up GRUB, let alone let me go into windows. How do I sort this, because I really need to go into windows sometime soon.

Looking at the hard drive from inside Linux, it appears all my important files are intact, it's just I literally can't get into Windows any more.

I am sticking with Linux, I would like to have a dual boot system ideally though, Windows does have a few things I need for my uni work.

Stick with hdb as the master disk and just make sure these lines are inside Suse's /boot/grub/menu.lst
title My Windows in master hda now booted as a slave
root (hd1,0)
map (hd1) (hd0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
chainloader +1
The two map statements revert hda as the master temporarily so that Windows can be booted as the original condition. GRub count from 0 and so (hd1,0) is the 1st partition of the 2nd disk, which I assume that is where you have installed your Windows.
