Broke my system...
 

Recently, I was re-installing slackware 9.1, and had that on three partitions on my HD (/boot, swap, and /)
There was a bunch of free space on my HD, and I tried to install win XP on the empty space. It gave me an error, saying that it couldn't create a partition there, because there were already four partitions, even though there were only three, and a logical partition that took up the space I wanted XP to use...

So, I tried to delete the partition, to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't, so I exited out of the XP setup, and tried to get back to linux, but it gave me a kernel panic, saying that no initrdisk could be found... I have no uidea what went wrong, but I would very much like to be able to boot my linux system, because I had my entire hard drive backed up on my mail server, which I sadly, stupidly downloaded before I broke the system, so it's all still in e-mail format...

So, two questions: first of all, is there a way to access my system from outside, in such a way that I can run programs that are already installed (i.e. send my mail back to the server through Kmail)?

Secondly, failing option one, if I can move the contents of my ~/Mail folder to Windows, is there a way to save it in such a way that it is accessible? (Read the e-mails that I am asuming are stored within?) If I did, could I then transfer ther whole ~/Mail folder to another installation, and just open it, while preserving the mail?

go download yourself a nice live-cd like Knoppix and you can get into it ;)

That's what I thought, but before I download a liveCD, would that allow me to access the programs already on my HD?

unless you seriously screwed up your partition(and even then there are ways to fix it) then yes you can
