broke gentoo after installing alsa-driver & alsa-utils
after countless hours of tria and error i finally had a working gentoo. however, my sound was not working and i decided to emerge alsa-driver and alsa-utils hoping that it would fine and i would have sound. after emerging both alsa-driver and alsa-utils, i proceeded to issue the command alsaconf. i was greeted by the nice gui asking to select my soundcard, asking permission to edit the alsa file, the it started to load the modules. after about 7 minutes of nothing happening, i decided to close my shell and open another one and do alsaconf again, however, this time it just hanged and nothing happened. i went ahead and rebooted and now my box wont boot i get the error kernel missing or user mode driver snd-intel8x0
here is what i've done so far
i booted off the live cd and tried to mount my /boot and /root partition so i can chroot into it and see if i can unemerge alsa but it wont let me do it
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/gentoo/boot
mount point /mnt/gentoo/boot does not exist
mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/gentoo
EXT2-fs: sda3: couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (4)
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda3
or too many mounted file systems
when i boot the box this is the error im getting
kernel missing or user mode driver snd-intel8x0
if anyone knows how to fix this , please tell me, i really dont want to start from scrath all over again, thanks
