hi just installed suse 10.0 its dual booted with win2000 suse can see and i.d. my motorola sb 5100 modem but wont connect to web on linux ,
works fine on win 2000 though any body met this before

So, you can get to the Surfboard config page then? That means they should be networked correctly.
Try to ping -c 3 64.233.167.99 which is the IP for google. If that works, then it's probably a DNS issue and you need to put nameservers into /etc/resolv.conf.
sorry for bad abbreviation but i did ping -c 3 64.233.167.99 , us poor newbies have a lot to learn

Ahh, sorry for the misunderstanding. Perhaps then you don't have drivers for the modem? Has a google search revealed anything? Something like "linux drivers surfboard"?
Did you ever confirm that you can connect to the Motorola's config page (I think 192.168.1.100 or 192.168.100.1, I'm not at home to see which it is). Also, are you using the ethernet connection or the USB connection. For linux, the ethernet connection is the way to go...
hi sorry for delay in reply wife been ill, have purchased ethernet
cable plugged it in activated ethernet card and rebooted system.
unfotunately nothing has changed is it possible i need to re-install befoe it will work
