Bring my keyboard back! [SOLVED]
 

Hi all

I mistakenly set my keyboard layout to "USA International" but now I need it to be "USA" layout --- otherwise I cannot do some characters. This happened on Ubuntu, Mandriva, and PCLinuxOS that I installed.

The unfortunate part is that these OSs are so marture on my PC (months of software installing & tweaking) that I do not want to re-install them with the correct keyboard layout. How can I go to a different keyboard layout? I run KDE on all these systems.

A quick google search found this... http://www.howtoforge.com/changing-l...-distributions those look like they are for the server versions of the distributions but likelihood is those commands are the same. Not sure about PCLinuxOS but I'd suspect their would be a way for that too.

in KDE go to Kmenu>controle center>reganal&accessability>Keybord Layout.

kubuntu doesn't have a menu entry for kcontol but you can run it from the command line and it works just as well, otherwise, in kubuntu you need K ->System Settings ->Regional & language ->keyboard layout.

Each distro is independant of the others you have installed, so you may have to change your settings on all or some of them.

Thanks guys, all these suggestions are superb --- they do the thing. I see that PCLinuxOS uses the root command "keyboarddrake" which is used by its mother, mom Mandriva. Thanks again ...
