Brasero problems

I have been trying to burn a CD and a DVD using Brasero, but it's impossible as I keep being told I don't have enough space on teh disc. If I am burning mp3 music say 250mb on a 700mb CD it's impossible there isn't enough space. I delted Brasero and redownloaded and installed, but I am now told a possible error due to overburning the disc which again is impossible. Perhaps I have something missing?
Any ideas please??

First and foremost: Are you sure that the CD that you are trying to record is blank? Does it show up on the desktop as blank and does Brasareo report it as blank at the bottom right of the frame?

What happens if you right click on the CD icon and select "open with CD/DVD Create"?

Failing all of that you might want to consider downloading K3B which is a very good CD burner from KDE.
