borderless windows in gnome

Hi

How do you disable the window borders for certain windows. I have seen this in screenshots but can't find a way to do it. I also can't find so much on the internet about it. I've read that in KDE there is an option in the menu to disable it for each window but I use gnome and would like to continue using it. Or is there a way to embed gnome-terminal in the background?

thanks
