bootloader problem on big hard disk.

pentium 2 with old bios, no new update. currently using 80gb hard disk which the bios not detecting properly. i'm using windows on it and it is working fine. Now i want install linux on another hard disk which is 4gb but the bootloader not working properly so i'm thinking if it is possible to let linux bootloader installed on floppy and everytime boot it via floopy. Without the floppy, directly boot into windows xp. thank you.

It is possible to install Linux on a second drive and boot it using a floppy drive, leaving the Windows drive untouched. The command grub-floppy allows you to make a grub boot floppy, for example. Another option would be to install grub or lilo to the boot sector of the Linux drive, and then boot to that drive using smart boot manager.
