Have xp pro on 1st hd. Mandriva free 2006 on 2nd hd. Now that bootloader is on 1st hd have a big ?. Some time back windows found bootloader and deleted so could not get back too windows. Should this happen again any answers on what one can do. Do know re-running linux again will put bootloader back on 1st hd but with the windows option is not there.

You can always add a Windows option to your bootloader's configuration file, which isn't that hard. If you need help with this, either do a search on LQ (or use Google) or tell us which bootloader you use and how your partitions are laid out.

there's a way to fool windows:

here you'll set ntldr as the main loader instead of grub.
