Booting suse with fedora?
 

I have fedora installed on my comp and do not like it. It seems sluggish and has alot of trouble auto-detecting anything. The brand new suse seems to me like it will fit the bill, but how do I make fedora look to the cd at bootup to install suse? I know its simple but I cannot find it on the net.

So you want to remove fedora and install Suse. All you do is download the install cd's of Suse and burn them. Once you have the install cd's, put the first install cd and reboot the computer. If you don't have cdrom as the first boot device listed in bios then you would have to change it. Once you do that...the computer will start from the install cd and you're off to using suse.

However, I don't agree with your view that fedora doesn't detect hardware automatically, most of the well known distros do an awesome job at autodetecting hardware unless you are using slightly harder ones like...slackware, arch or gentoo. If you are after hardware autodetection, nothing can beat ubuntu

You configure your PC BIOS to look to the CD (before the hard disk) at startup.

For example:
1. <Power on> your PC
2. <Del> to go into BIOS setup
3. Select "BIOS Features", scroll to "Boot Sequence", change the first boot device to be your CD (followed by the hard drive as the *second* boot device)
4. Insert your SuSE CD
5. It should now boot to SuSE "setup"
6. You can install clean, you can dual boot ... you've got lots of options.
