Booting Redhat 9 from an HPT374 controller

I have an Abit AT7 MAX 2 mobo with onboard HPT 374 RAID controller.

I have installed the latest BIOS updates but have not had any success in booting Redhat 9.0 on the system. It installs just fine using the linux drivers from your web site but fails to boot.

It installs just fine to the disk on IDE 1 but that disk is very slow. If I install onto the HPT controller on an SATA 150 drive Redhat fails to boot after installation ... I receive the information below:

#################################
Loading vmlinuz...................................
Loading initrd.img......

Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue
#################################

I have tried different disks etc. but have had no success in booting the system on an HPT 374 controller.

What would you suggest?
