booting problems

Hi!

I have a problem with Mandrake Linux 9.1 (Bamboo).
It just wont logout, reboot or shutdown. (I'm using KDE desktop)
If I'm trying to do those things, it just gives a black screen and does nothing. Only way to shutdown is by pushing the power button.

I'm using following hardware:

-Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D6800 (laptop)
-Intel Pentium 4A, 2Ghz(5x400)
-chipset: Intel Brookdale i845D
-512 MB (DDR SDRAM)
-Bios-type: Wistron (06/06/02)
-display adapter: Mobility Radeon (16MB)
--3d accelerator: ATI Radeon Mobility
-AC'97 Audio Controller

Could someone help ?

Thanks

open up a console and then type shutdown -h now, do it as root then you won't get any errors saying that you dont' have permissions.

i have put a link in my panel to it so that i don't have to log out and close things out each time.

cheers.
