Question Booting Problem after error in WineX RedHat 9


After playing a game in Winex it flashed an error than booted.
on bootup it froze then flashed on the nvidia bootup screen and that is as far is I can get.
I have redhat 9 cd and a redhat boot disk ,but I can Not get to a prompt
if I can reinstall nvidia drivers which has to be done with x server shutdown I will Be ok,
I have a lot of stuff on my drive i do not want to lose.
Can Anyone tell me what to do to get to the Prompt than shutdown X server so I can Install Nvidia Drivers.

didn't mean to repeat (just Panic)!!
Any Help will Be Appreciated?????

Try to press CTRL-ALT-F2 to get to a virtual console, login as root and type init 3. That will kill the Xserver and you can reinstall the nVidia drivers.
