Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

hello everyone!!
I am using kali 2.0, when I am booting it, it shows an error-"attempt to read and write outside the 'hd0'
press any key to continue"
when pressed any key nothing happens after that just stuck there.Please help me.
Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testers and security specialists, and given its unique nature, it is NOT a recommended distribution if you’re unfamiliar with Linux or are looking for a general-purpose Linux desktop distribution for development
Furthermore, it is impossible to answer your question because you don't say anything at all about your hardware, your partition scheme or... anything at all.
Finally, since you are posting this in the Newbie section, I would personally recommend that you try another distro if you want to learn GNU/Linux. There are tons of them out there. Many of them are a lot easier to grasp than Kali. The reason you see screenshots of Kali in MR. Robot is that the show follows (fictional) crackers that are highly skilled.
Well, I am a newbie, so I hope this will not be a dumb response. Perhaps you can check the boot settings. I found that my Dell Optiplex 620 is set to try booting from the CD and USB first and the HD (0) last. Perhaps if you tap F12 while the system is booting up, you may see the Boot order is or is not set to HD 0. On my machine, tapping F2 and then going to devices will show what the system is seeing while booting up. Remember, I am a newbie, so if my response is not on target, perhaps you will get a better answer soon.

If you updated from 2015 to now it likely broke;
only professionals^ (at*times) and s run it on metal,
most run live for security reasons &c... https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-releases/
The code name for Debian's development distribution is sid, aliased to unstable. Most of the development work that is done in Debian, is uploaded to this distribution. This distribution will never get released; instead, packages from it will propagate into testing and then into a real release.
