booting problem

i get the follwing error message while booting. any one, plz help what to do

INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/getty"
end_request: I/O error,dev:03:03(hda),sector 3862144
INIT: id "4" responding too fast :disabled for 5 minutes

init: cannot execute ''/sbin/shutdown''
end_request:I/O error ,dev 03:03 (hda), sector 3693976

Looks like you have 2 separate and possibly unrelated errors here. The more serious one is the I/O error which could be down to a flaky hard drive. The second error relates to getty and a modem connection problem which is dealt with here .
