Booting from a new drive

Not much of a Linux question, but it came up in the process of switching over to Linux and I'm sure there's someone here who will know the answer. My new DVD burner is on its way to my house and having never tested out new drives on newer PCs before, I'm a little curious as to whether I will be able to boot from the new drive. Right now I just have one optical drive (a CD burner) and am able to boot from it on start up. I'll be installing the DVD burner in the bay below it and am just wondering if I'll be able to boot from it too. I'd prefer to download the single DVD image of the distro I'm going to install instead of the three separate CD images, but if I won't be able to boot a DVD from the new drive it seems as though I'll just have to go with the CDs. Any insights? Thanks in advance!

As long as the iso is bootable, it shouldnt be an issue.

Just about all drives are bootable nowadays... except some really old ones.

Thanks for the quick response! Will go with the DVD iso.
