Booting from a flashdrive
I have been trying to boot Fedora 8 from a flashdrive on a virtual machine and I am not having any luck. I get to the intial setup for linux and then it freezes up and will not continue...I tried reloading the os on my flashdrive and also reloading virtual 2007.

Try this product, it is easy to use and fairly straightforward.
https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/ As a disclaimer, I have had mixed results. I believe this is due to driver issues with certain combination of hardware and driver problems. Notably we made one key that would boot Fedora 10 (created from a liveCD iso) to an older Dell laptop, but my Dell Optiplex 320 desktop would crash midway through boot. It did that when I tried the LiveCD from a CD though also, so in that case apparently the LiveCD didn't like my Bios or something. Anyway, this seems to be a bit on the Voodoo Computing side of things atm. |
usb/virtual
Which virtual machine and does the flashdrive work on a 'real' machine? As far as usb creators go Knoppix is the only one that has worked for me.
