I don't understand what you're trying to say...

You have a sparc that you know well, and would
like to install SuSE on a PC or Mac, or are you
saying you're trying to get SuSE for PC to run on
the sparc?

Cheers,
Tink

BOOT

I have a Sun Ultra 5 / 1 gig ram computer which is running and old version of Solaris. I'm a newb and i dont know to many commands. On this computer I want to install Suse Linux which I have on a cd. I dont know how to boot that cd to install the suse. When i click on the cdrom it gives me files and directories within the cd but I cannot double click on the file like windows and run it. Can anyone please tell me of a command, program, or file to get this booted.

Hmmm ... to the best of my knowledge SuSE doesn't
distribute a Linux for Sparc stations ... what does the
CD say, what is it for, where is it from?

Cheers,
Tink

To boot the CD you just turn on your computer with the CD in the drive,
assuming your box will boot from CD. What Tinkster is trying to tell you
is that SuSE probably doesn't run on a Sparc, and you should browse
the files on the CD to determine that. Like, maybe you could find one
named INSTALL or README or just browse to SuSE's website. Of course,
Tinkster used to run SuSE and he probably already knows.
