Question boot virus!


thank you for reply.

I reinstalled slackware 8.1. I configured password and everything!

when the computer start and boot from lilo, it displays a message saying

¨chipawayvirus¨ found a boot virus....

i continue loading linux and password doesn´t work at all. so i havent logon.

is there anything i can do to fix this problem?
does this program lose my password due to viruses?

anything... will be helpfull..

Disable the antivirus in your BIOS. It thinks Free Software is an infection.

The CAV monitors the boot sector of bootable drives for changes - because the only time you're ever going to get a modified boot record is when a virus has infected it, you're never gonna want to change your OS. (Please note the sarcasm). Since boot sector viruses are pretty rare these days, you're in fairly safe hands disabling it.

I Had the same problem with lilo, i use grub and it works fine.
