Cool boot up with different ip address?

Hi out there,

I just set up a mandrake 9.2 version a couple of days ago. Everything works fine, but it would be great if it is possible to choose between two different modes for booting.

the problem is that sometimes do I log in on a network that gives you an ip address automatically (DHCP) and other times I log in a network with a static ip adress...

Is it possible to set the system up like that?

I'm happy for an answer and look forward to get one :-)

Thnx so far :-)

I may have a solution (I don't know if it'll work). You need two kernels. For the first add "dhcp" as EXTRAVERSION flag (in the main Makefile). For the second add "static" as EXTRAVERSION flag.
Then modify your boot scripts. In fact the script which brings eth0 up have to do a "uname -a" and look for example if static flag is present. If yes, start the script which assigns a static IP, If no start the dhcp script.
