boot process for multiple OSes
 

Can the Linux Boot Process be used to control the starting of the computer (including Win2K) or should I use a 3rd party application for that purpose?
I have never used a multiple OS system with Linux before.

I want to install a few Linux Distributions on a separate drive with the primary drive running Win2K.
I have Partition Magic 2002 (which has a component for installing and running multiple OSes, but never used it before so I don't know if it is buggy or not).

Yes, Linux can boot Windows. Most distros will show you a menu at boot with the different OSs installed in your system, so you can boot Windows. You just have to make sure to install Grub (or Lilo, in case you're using a distro that comes with it) in the MBR. (Generally, you're asked where to install the bootloader when you install Linux).

As usual, it's a good idea to back up your data before installing Linux or any other OS.
