Unhappy Boot problem: Knoppix 3.7

I can’t seem to boot Knoppix at all unless I use the "failsafe" command.

Any other of the main options seems to bring up a black screen, this screen will remain this way, the system I believe hangs at this point, there is no activity from the CD-ROM at all.
Am I doing something wrong?
I downloaded it via Bittorrent from the official source and wrote the disc as “TAO” method, although I didn’t close the last session of the disc (finialize it) – could this be the problem?

Thanks.

why not try reburning it to find out? What cost a CD after all?

Unless you have some very unual hardware, you should get somewhere.........

It works okay on my machine. TOA means track at once by the way....

Tried that no luck, but i think its my PC.

Both discs work fine in my friends Dell Laptop.

I have no clue why its not working in my PC

Should i try updating my system BIOS?

My motherboard is a VIA KT400 (ASUS) - Are there any known issues with this chipset?

Have you tried one of the Knoppix based distros like Kanotix or just some other LiveCD like SImplyMepis? To see if its Knoppix, or your comp...

Got it working:

I took your advice and tried those other systems, none of them booted correctly.

So i came to the conclusion that it was the PC, i updated the BIOS using ASUS liveupdate and bingo, it booted first time.

Thanks all.
