Boot problem

I had to run "fdisk /MBA" because I could not boot to Windows as I couldnt understand what was Grub. Now I can get into Windows but I can`t get into Linux. :newbie:
Can anybody tell me how to get into Linux and configure it to use Lilo as boot loader.

when you did that /mbr thing, you overwrote your master boot record with a microsoft boot record. this boot record just contains the info for how to load windows off yr first hard drive. If you want to get into linux, you can either reinstall it, setting up lilo to have both OSs as choices to boot from, or if you don't want to reinstall linux, you will need a linux rescue disk. since i have never needed one, i am not the best person to tell you about them, but i gather they are fairly simple to use.

Somebody who has used a linux rescue disk will probably fill you in....

If you running NT based window$, try to install GRUB, 'cause LILO doesn't work with NTFS (at least it didn't work for me),

When it happend to me, i just used boot disk, and few other times i reinstalled Linux (just run upgrade)

Hi,
Depending on the linux distribution you use, you can often boot from your install CD to rescue your linux. Either you are there is a rescue option on the CD, or you can do [CTRL-]ALT-Fx to switch to a terminal and mount your linux partition.

if you need to mount your linux partition (e.g. mount /dev/hda1 /mnt) then an option is to start a chroot'ed shell (chroot /mnt /mnt/bin/bash), and reinstall your boot loader from there.

If you have Win2k or WinXP use the windows bootloader ( http://www.littlewhitedog.com/reviews_other_00011.asp ) or install LiLo onto a floppy.
